An Exploration of Myth

Dear Ann,
I stumbled across your website and blog today while researching and thought I would write to you. We are cousins somewhere along the line. Martha Ann Richardson and Perry Thorne were my great-grandparents. Their daughter, Ida Belle was my grandmother through their daughter, Lessie.

I simply cannot tell you how much I enjoyed reading about David Felder Richardson and Martha Ann. Thank you so very much for taking the time to post the stories. It brightened my day to read them and to see that you and I share some of the same treasured memories.

Ann

I was captivated by the story "A BRIEF HISTORY OF MY ACTIVITIES IN THE SHIPBUILDING BUSINESS, by 'Captain George'"

My grandfather, J.P. Trellue, Sr. (not W.P) was one of the stockholders when Levingston Shipyard was incorporated in 1933. He retired from Levingston in the mid 50's as it's Treasurer.

I have fond memories of prowling the shipyard as a youngster in the early 50's with my dad and grandfather. I guess some of that my must have rubbed off on me as I have spent my last twenty years as a shareholder, director and corporate officer of a company that manufactures and installs high end custom architectural woodwork.

Ann,
I am a fellow PA author and was wondering if you have a copy of "A Myth in Action" that you can send me signed to my wife Pam. She is a big Murphy fan and loves books such as yours, (she won't read my books). Please email me where to send the check or visit my guestbook on my website, www.freewebs.com/bobbuckholz. Thank you, I'm looking forward to hearing from you.

I would truely like to thank you for the comments that you made about the first 25 words of my short story. You are right, I am a poet at heart, probably always will be. I write the way I speak, good or bad, as a Texan. I think a writer should stay true to his or her character, in their dialogue as well as action. However , as Im sure you can tell, I am an infant when it comes to writing, though I have been at it most of my life. No creative writing classes for me. Just good old reading, volumes and volumes of only the best. That and of course the school of hard knocks. I grew up hard and fast.Mine was the language of the streets, much the same as my young friend approaching Austin in the story. Fact is Ann, I was that kid. I saw life from a completly differant prespective than most, no rose colored glasses for me.i love what I have read of your book here. Your story line is so rich, I will most assuredly buy one.
